Marconi/ Alcock & Brown Project scoops joint Gold at RIAI Architecture Award for Best Place at Irish Architecture Awards 2017.
This project which we delivered with Denis Byrne Architects, for Failte Ireland and Galway County Council has landed Gold at this years Awchitecture Awards. Shane Holland Design Workshops were part of the design Team and implemented the structures, graphics via Ina O Connor, liaised with Artists Connolly Cleary, and built & installed the Corten Steel and Irish Lartch Structures or stop points along the 5km walking route on this significant historic and industrial site on the Wild Atlantic Way in Connemara. Our responsibilities were to build to a high material specification to control corrosion and ensure long life in this most aggressive of Atlantic environments. We are delighted for Denis Byrne Architects and 33 Trees who jointly hold this award on behalf of all the design team and we were glad to be involved with several companies locally to deliver this award winning project. This joint Best Place Award is shared with Clonakilty Co Cork in this category.
