Sculpture for Irish Whiskey Collection - T1 Dublin Airport
The installation of this piece, for the DAA, took place in March 2015 as a centre point for the Irish Whiskey Collection in the new retail facilities at the Loop, T1, Dublin Airport. The production of this swirling copper sculpture for the Daa was undertaken by the team in our workshop from design to installation. The hammered and hand forged plate copper was formed into this complex swirl using over 50 linear meters of diminishing hammered strips. It is inspired by the hammered copper stills synonymous with whiskey making and the craft process it represents.
Photos below show: scale model, polishing of the hammers used to texture the copper plate, torching of the plates, the fixing details, installations in our own workshops, installation at the Loop @ Dublin Airport's T1 and pre-assembly in our workshop.
