Our Irish Whiskey Sculpture is to be unveiled at Dublin Airport tonight. The IWC sculpture for the DAA at Terminal 1 at Dublin Airport wil be unveiled at the official opening of the new developments at the Loop this evening. The copper sculpture designed and built by Shane Holland Design Workshops involved hammered swirling shapes of copper to echo the crafts required in the whiskey making process from making of the pot stills to the production of the golden liquid from aged casks. Shane Holland and his team planned this with DAA architect Adam Heffernan .It was built in Duleek , then transported to the airport and rebuilt on site airside where every each section was carefully suspended on wires and set up for its final position as the centrepiece of the Irish Whiskey retail section. The sculpture measures approx 3.6 x 3.6 meters and over 50 meters of solid 3 mm plate copper precisely bolted together, torched and patinated and waxed for its final installation. The process of its making will be presented in video format soon. Watch out for this on your next visit through Dublin airport which boasts traffic of over 11m visitors each year.
