The Porpoise Hibernicus lighting sculpture is set to travel from East coast to West coast today just in time for the Irish Design Works Exhibition at The Niland Gallery in Galway on 12th July . This one off piece is a porpoise vertabrae found on Shenick island in the Irish Sea off Skerries. This 1.3 metre complete section has been restructured as the centrepiece of a lighting perimeter of leds which is suspended with nylon lines to appear as if floating. Holland hopes this piece will be well received when it appears in Galway international Arts Festival and race week in the Design Island show which runs until 2nd August. This exhibition featuring the work of some of Irelands' most exciting designers will feature furniture by Ben Gabriel , Knut Klimmek, Wedge Tricia Harris and Willow woodworks, ceramics by Raymond Kinghan, rugs by Ceadogán and metals by Stephen Quinn. We invite all of our friends and clients to make this date and to see us in the West this summer in one of the best cities in the world for culture and craic.
